In the works...

It has been a while since I’ve written an update, but I’ve been busy!

I just completed the Bridge Program at One on One, an actor networking studio. The Bridge Program is meant for early career actors to meet a diverse group of casting directors, agents, and managers in order to better understand how to approach auditioning and the business side of acting. I had the opportunity to take classes with 17 different casting directors and perform in 3 agent and manager showcases. I honed my audition technique, got to try out commercials, performed a tremendously fun scene, and learned that casting directors’ opinions vary enormously. It helped me understand what they are thinking, and I think it will make me a much more confident auditioner going forward.

Throughout the spring and summer, I have also continued taking class at The Barrow Group. In the spring, I took Scene Study 2, where met a lot of awesome fellow actors and worked on my self-adjustment skills. I am currently taking the Director’s Workshop, which is fascinating. I’m taking it as an actor, so I am somewhat of a guinea pig for the directors learning this way of directing. It’s like two classes in one – I both get to work on scenes with the directors and also get to learn about directing!

Unfortunately, the show I posted about in (March?) didn’t happen due to maintenance issues in the rented theater. There was not enough time to find another location for the planned dates, and scheduling conflicts made alternate dates infeasible. That project has been tabled, possibly to return another time.

I was disappointment by the inability to perform in this play as planned, and I was searching for a new project. I had a couple of exciting auditions, and all the while, my mind was churning, trying to figure out how to make up for my lost opportunity.

Luckily, I got to take a wonderful vacation in June. I came back relaxed, rejuvenated, and even more ready to tackle a creative project. I enlisted a team, and I have something exciting in the works. I’ll be making a few big announcements over the next few days!
